Tickets and events

Ticket insurance for concerts, festivals and sport

Tickets are usually non-refundable — if you fall ill, you lose the full price. The insurance reimburses it after deducting the 10% excess, and unlike insurance offered at the box office, you can take it out for a ticket you bought anywhere else. It costs 9% of the price, minimum CZK 26.

  • 9% of the price, minimum CZK 26
  • If you cancel, cancellation fees back after deducting the 10% excess
  • Standalone, no travel insurance needed

Typical situations

When cancellation insurance comes in handy

  • Flu before a concert

You bought the ticket six months ago, and the day before you’re in bed with a fever. The organiser doesn’t refund anything.

  • An injury before a festival

A broken leg, a sprain or an operation — a four-day festival with camping simply isn’t possible.

  • A resit exam on the day of the event

You fail an exam and the faculty sets the resit for the exact day of the concert. The insurance covers that too.

  • The race you trained for

Marathon entry fees are non-refundable. If an injury or illness stops you from starting, we reimburse it after deducting the 10% excess.

What the insurance covers

14 reasons to cancel

In detail, including exclusions
  • Your illness, injury or death

You fall ill or get injured so that you can’t go.

  • Illness, injury or death of someone close

Family, a business partner, or the person you’re travelling with or staying with.

  • Caring for a sick family member

You have to look after someone close who isn’t travelling with you.

  • Confirmed pregnancy

A pregnancy confirmed after the insurance was taken out, where the doctor advises against travelling.

  • Death of a pet

    Your dog or cat dies.

  • Court, adoption or divorce

A witness summons, adoption or divorce proceedings during the trip.

  • Dismissal by your employer

You’re dismissed when you didn’t expect it.

  • Resit exam

A resit exam during the trip or shortly after it.

  • Car accident

The car you were going to travel in can’t be driven after an accident.

  • Stolen documents

Your documents are stolen in the last week before departure.

  • Victim of a crime

You or a family member become the victim of a crime.

  • Theft or damage at home

A burglary, robbery or major natural damage where you live.

  • Mandatory quarantine

A public health officer orders you into quarantine just before departure.

  • Natural disaster at the destination

A fire, flood or windstorm where you’re going.

Keep in mind

What to watch out for

  • Event cancelled by the organiser

If the organiser cancels or postpones the event, they refund the ticket price. Cancellation insurance covers situations where you can’t go.

  • Original tickets before the event

If you can’t go to the event, send the original cancelled tickets to the insurer at skody@colonnade.cz before it starts. Tickets sent after the event has started may reduce the payout.

  • Proof that it’s non-refundable

When you claim, you provide proof of payment and a statement from the seller saying how much they won’t refund (or that tickets are non-refundable).

  • Reselling the ticket

If you resell the ticket, this reduces your loss — the insurance only covers the amount you actually lose.

What it would look like in practice

A broken ankle a week before the festival

    Tomáš, 24 · 3-day festival ticket + a camping spot

Tomáš had a ticket for a summer festival and a spot at the campsite. A week before the event, he broke his ankle playing football with friends and ended up in a cast. The festival doesn’t refund tickets, and he didn’t manage to resell his at the last minute.

Questions

Insurance questions: tickets and events

All questions →
  • Yes, that’s what our insurance is built on. It doesn’t matter whether you bought the ticket from the organiser, at an online box office or on the festival website — proof of payment is enough.

  • Yes. Add up the price of all the tickets and enter the insured persons (up to 10). The premium is calculated from the total amount.

  • Yes, if you add them to the insured amount. You can insure the ticket as well as related non-refundable services, such as a train and a hotel.

  • Ideally right when you buy. If the event starts within 30 days, the insurance must be taken out at the same time as you pay for the ticket. And it only covers events that occur after it’s taken out.

  • We reimburse the cancellation fees — the deposit paid in advance or the price the seller didn’t refund under its terms — after deducting the 10% excess. If you get nothing back for a CZK 2,000 ticket, you’ll receive CZK 1,800. If you cancel because the insured person is hospitalised or dies, no excess applies. Cancellation fees don’t include the premium, airport taxes or fees that can be recovered.

  • If there are more than 30 days until the trip starts, you can take out the insurance at any time. If you buy the trip 30 days or less before it starts, the insurance must be taken out at the same time as you pay for the trip. In all cases, it only covers events that occur after it is taken out.

  • Among other things: a change of plans (you don’t want to go, you’re afraid, you don’t get time off work), health problems that existed before the insurance was taken out (except a stabilised chronic illness), events under the influence of alcohol or drugs, injuries during races and competitions, or a trip being cancelled by the carrier or organiser — in that case they refund you.
