What is insured
Cancellation fee insurance covers the price of a trip or event paid in advance that the provider does not refund under its terms when you unavoidably have to cancel for one of the listed reasons. You can insure a package holiday, accommodation, a flight, a camp, a course or tickets to a cultural or sporting event. The payout limit is the total price of the trip, up to CZK 500,000 per person and policy.
Insured reasons

- Caring for a sick family member: Illness, injury or death of a family member who isn’t travelling with you but whom you demonstrably have to look after.

- Resit exam: A resit of a university or similar exam (yours or another insured person’s), if the resit date falls during the trip or within 7 days after the planned return.
- Car accident: A road accident involving the car you planned to travel in, if the car can’t be driven and the accident was recorded by the Police of the Czech Republic.

The destination is the town, city or resort stated in your travel contract or binding order.
The reason must arise beyond your control no more than 30 days before the planned departure. Illness, injury, death and pregnancy (points a)–d)) are covered even if they arise up to 180 days before departure.
A family member means a partner, children, parents, siblings, grandparents, a partner’s parents, a daughter-in-law, a son-in-law and other relatives you live with in the same household or demonstrably care for.

Premium, taking out the insurance and when it starts
The premium is 9% of the total price of the trip, at least CZK 26 per policy, paid as a one-off. The insurance policy comes into existence upon payment. If you buy the trip 30 days or less before it starts, take out the insurance at the same time as you pay for it. Trip cancellation cover applies from the day it is taken out until the planned day of departure. With this insurance, you cannot withdraw from the contract without giving a reason within 14 days.
Insured event
Cancel the trip with the provider as soon as possible and notify Colonnade of the claim without undue delay, always quoting your policy number: tel. +420 800 700 025, email skody@colonnade.cz. For tickets, send the original cancelled tickets before the event starts. The insurer completes its investigation within 3 months and pays out within 15 days. We’re happy to help you with the claim — the process is described on the How to make a claim page.
