Why cancellation insurance

Plans change. Your money doesn’t have to be lost.

If you can’t go, the seller keeps a cancellation fee — the full price for tickets and non-refundable rates, up to 100% for package holidays just before departure. Cancellation insurance is a small amount at checkout that, at a moment like that, reimburses your cancellation fees after deducting the 10% excess.

Without insurance

What cancelling can cost you

  • Package holidays

    up to 100%

Tour operators raise the cancellation fee as the departure date gets closer. A week before the flight, it’s typically 80–100% of the price.

  • Accommodation

    100%

Non-refundable rates are cheaper, but you get nothing back if you cancel. Cottages and apartments want payment in advance.

  • Tickets

    100%

With few exceptions, tickets for concerts, festivals and matches are non-refundable. Reselling a ticket at the last minute is a lottery.

Typical values. The actual cancellation fees are set by the seller’s terms and conditions.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

All questions →
  • Travel insurance applies during the trip — mainly medical expenses abroad. Cancellation insurance covers the situation where you can’t set off on a trip or go to an event and would lose the money you’ve paid. With us, you buy cancellation insurance on its own — you don’t have to buy travel insurance with it.

  • Some payment cards include cancellation cover, but usually with limitations — only for holidays paid for with that card, or with lower limits. Check your card’s terms. Our insurance applies regardless of how you paid.

  • The premium is 9% of the price, minimum CZK 26. For a CZK 1,500 ticket you pay CZK 135, and if you cancel you get CZK 1,350 back. It makes the most sense for more expensive and multi-day events and for tickets bought well in advance.

  • The premium is 9% of the total price of what you’re insuring, minimum CZK 26 per insurance policy. A CZK 1,500 ticket costs you CZK 135, a CZK 12,000 stay costs you CZK 1,080 and a CZK 40,000 package holiday costs you CZK 3,600. It’s a one-off payment.

    Work out the price →
  • If there are more than 30 days until the trip starts, you can take out the insurance at any time. If you buy the trip 30 days or less before it starts, the insurance must be taken out at the same time as you pay for the trip. In all cases, it only covers events that occur after it is taken out.

  • Yes. It doesn’t matter where you bought the ticket, stay or package holiday — from the organiser, at a travel agency, through a booking portal or at an online box office. A booking contract, binding order or proof of payment is enough.
