Concert ticket insurance

Tickets for big concerts are bought months in advance and organisers don’t refund them. If a fever knocks you out the day before the concert, the insurance reimburses the price after deducting the 10% excess. You can take it out for a ticket from any box office — it costs 9% of the price, minimum CZK 26.

  • 9% of the price, minimum CZK 26
  • If you cancel, cancellation fees back after deducting the 10% excess

Typical situations

When cancellation insurance comes in handy

  • A fever the day before the concert

You’ve been looking forward to the concert for six months, and then flu strikes. The seller won’t refund the ticket, and reselling at the last minute is a lottery.

  • A concert abroad

A ticket, flight and hotel together can add up to tens of thousands of crowns. You can insure the whole trip to the concert at once.

  • Family tickets

If a child falls ill, a parent stays at home too. The insurance covers cancellation due to illness of family members as well.

  • A resit exam on the same day

The faculty sets a resit exam for the day of the concert — that’s also a reason the insurance covers.

What the insurance covers

14 reasons to cancel

In detail, including exclusions
  • Your illness, injury or death

You fall ill or get injured so that you can’t go.

  • Illness, injury or death of someone close

Family, a business partner, or the person you’re travelling with or staying with.

  • Caring for a sick family member

You have to look after someone close who isn’t travelling with you.

  • Confirmed pregnancy

A pregnancy confirmed after the insurance was taken out, where the doctor advises against travelling.

  • Death of a pet

    Your dog or cat dies.

  • Court, adoption or divorce

A witness summons, adoption or divorce proceedings during the trip.

  • Dismissal by your employer

You’re dismissed when you didn’t expect it.

  • Resit exam

A resit exam during the trip or shortly after it.

  • Car accident

The car you were going to travel in can’t be driven after an accident.

  • Stolen documents

Your documents are stolen in the last week before departure.

  • Victim of a crime

You or a family member become the victim of a crime.

  • Theft or damage at home

A burglary, robbery or major natural damage where you live.

  • Mandatory quarantine

A public health officer orders you into quarantine just before departure.

  • Natural disaster at the destination

A fire, flood or windstorm where you’re going.

Keep in mind

What to watch out for

  • Postponed or cancelled concert

If the organiser cancels or postpones the concert, contact them first — they usually refund the ticket price or the tickets are valid for the new date.

  • Reselling the ticket

If you manage to resell the ticket, this reduces your loss. The insurance only covers the amount you actually lose.

  • Original tickets

Send the original cancelled tickets to skody@colonnade.cz before the concert starts — otherwise the insurer may reduce the payout.

What it would look like in practice

A resit exam on the same day as the concert

Adéla, 23 · A concert ticket in Berlin + train

Adéla bought a ticket to see her favourite band and train tickets to Berlin. Three weeks before the concert, she failed an exam and the faculty set her resit for the exact day of the concert. Neither the concert ticket nor the train tickets could be refunded.

Questions

Insurance questions: concerts

All questions →
  • The price or deposit paid in advance that the seller didn’t refund under its terms — tickets, travel, accommodation and other non-refundable services. The premium, airport taxes and fees that can be recovered don’t count.

  • Yes. One policyholder fills in the order and enters the others as insured persons — up to 10 people. The premium is calculated from the total price.

  • A postponement is a matter for the organiser — they usually offer a refund, or the tickets are valid for the new date. Cancellation insurance covers situations where you can’t go for the reasons listed in the terms.

  • We reimburse the cancellation fees — the deposit paid in advance or the price the seller didn’t refund under its terms — after deducting the 10% excess. If you get nothing back for a CZK 2,000 ticket, you’ll receive CZK 1,800. If you cancel because the insured person is hospitalised or dies, no excess applies. Cancellation fees don’t include the premium, airport taxes or fees that can be recovered.

  • If there are more than 30 days until the trip starts, you can take out the insurance at any time. If you buy the trip 30 days or less before it starts, the insurance must be taken out at the same time as you pay for the trip. In all cases, it only covers events that occur after it is taken out.

  • Among other things: a change of plans (you don’t want to go, you’re afraid, you don’t get time off work), health problems that existed before the insurance was taken out (except a stabilised chronic illness), events under the influence of alcohol or drugs, injuries during races and competitions, or a trip being cancelled by the carrier or organiser — in that case they refund you.
