Typical situations

When cancellation insurance comes in handy

  • A gift for your parents

You bought your parents tickets for their anniversary, and your dad falls ill the day before. The insurance reimburses the price after deducting the 10% excess.

  • A musical weekend in London

Tickets, flights and a hotel for two come to more than CZK 20,000. You can insure it all at once.

  • An injury before the show

A broken leg or a twisted ankle — and the seat in the theatre stays empty.

What the insurance covers

14 reasons to cancel

In detail, including exclusions

You have to look after someone close who isn’t travelling with you.

    Your dog or cat dies.

  • Court, adoption or divorce

A witness summons, adoption or divorce proceedings during the trip.

Keep in mind

What to watch out for

  • Changing the date

Some theatres let you exchange tickets for another date. If that’s possible, it reduces your loss.

  • Tickets as a gift

Enter the people who will go to the show as the insured persons — the policyholder can be whoever bought the tickets.

  • Cancelled show

If the theatre cancels the show, it refunds the ticket price itself. Cancellation insurance is for situations where you can’t go.

Questions

Insurance questions: theatre and musicals

All questions →
  • Yes. You’re the policyholder, and you enter the people you’re giving them to as the insured persons. If they fall ill, the insurance covers the cancellation.

  • The insurance only covers what you actually lose. If you exchange the ticket, the loss is only any exchange fee or non-refundable travel and accommodation.

  • We reimburse the cancellation fees — the deposit paid in advance or the price the seller didn’t refund under its terms — after deducting the 10% excess. If you get nothing back for a CZK 2,000 ticket, you’ll receive CZK 1,800. If you cancel because the insured person is hospitalised or dies, no excess applies. Cancellation fees don’t include the premium, airport taxes or fees that can be recovered.

  • If there are more than 30 days until the trip starts, you can take out the insurance at any time. If you buy the trip 30 days or less before it starts, the insurance must be taken out at the same time as you pay for the trip. In all cases, it only covers events that occur after it is taken out.

  • Among other things: a change of plans (you don’t want to go, you’re afraid, you don’t get time off work), health problems that existed before the insurance was taken out (except a stabilised chronic illness), events under the influence of alcohol or drugs, injuries during races and competitions, or a trip being cancelled by the carrier or organiser — in that case they refund you.
