Overview 2027

Tour operators’ cancellation fees 2027: overview and calculation

How much the tour operator deducts if you cancel your package holiday 90, 30 or 3 days before departure. The figures are taken from the current terms of five Czech tour operators, with a link to the source.

Verified 26/10/2026 · we update the tables every January

Short answer: Three months before departure, the big tour operators charge a flat fee of CZK 990–1,500 per person or 15–30% of the price. A month before departure it’s 20–80%, ten days before 75–80%, and in the last few days 90–100%. What counts is the day the tour operator receives your written notice of withdrawal.

  • SOLMAR villas and Fischer DynamiX dynamic packages have their own scale.

Invia and other agencies: the organiser’s terms apply

In its terms and conditions, Invia states that it arranges package holidays as a travel agency. Your contract is with the tour operator organising the holiday, and the cancellation charge is governed by its terms. So for a holiday bought through Invia or another agency, look for the cancellation fees in the terms of the tour operator named as the organiser in the contract. What determines the fee is when the organiser receives your notice of withdrawal.

How to read the tables

  • Count the days until departure from the day the tour operator receives your notice of withdrawal. Some tour operators don’t count the day of delivery or the day of departure.
  • “Minimum” means the lowest amount. Fischer, EXIM tours, Blue Style and Alexandria can charge their actual costs if these are higher. They have to justify them if you ask.
  • The percentage is of the holiday price. Add-on services such as insurance, excursions or seats on the plane often have their own rules.
  • Your contract is what counts. The terms in effect on the day you concluded the contract apply, as do any special terms of promotions. The table is an overview, not a substitute for the contract.

How to write the notice of withdrawal and who to send it to is explained in the guide How to cancel a package holiday, with text to copy.

Example calculation: what cancellation insurance pays back

A package holiday for two for CZK 40,000. Cancellation insurance for it costs CZK 3,600. How much it pays back if you have to cancel the holiday because of illness:

Example calculation: cancellation fee and payout from cancellation insurance
Cancellation feeAmountInsurance pays backIf hospitalised
30%CZK 12,000CZK 10,800CZK 12,000
80%CZK 32,000CZK 28,800CZK 32,000
100%CZK 40,000CZK 36,000CZK 40,000
The insurance pays back the cancellation fee after deducting the 10% excess. If the insured person is hospitalised for at least 24 hours or dies, it pays it back in full. If you cancel more than 30 days before departure, the insurance only covers illness, injury, death and pregnancy (no more than 180 days before departure).

When you don’t pay a cancellation fee

The Czech Civil Code lists the situations in which you can withdraw without a cancellation charge and the tour operator refunds everything:

  • unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances occur at or in the immediate vicinity of the destination that significantly affect the holiday or the transport there (Section 2535),
  • the tour operator proposes a price increase of more than 8% or has to significantly change the main features of the holiday (Section 2531(2)),
  • the tour operator cancels the holiday, for example because too few people have signed up (Section 2536).

Illness, injury or a death in the family aren’t among these reasons. What to do if you fall ill is explained in the guide Illness before a holiday.

Cancellation insurance for a package holiday from any tour operator

Cancellation insurance reimburses the cancellation fee after deducting the 10% excess if you cancel the holiday for a reason listed in the policy terms. This includes, for example, illness, injury or a death in the family, dismissal by your employer or a burglary at home. The list is on the what the insurance covers page. It costs 9% of the holiday price, at least CZK 26.

The insurance is always taken out for a specific package holiday you’ve booked or paid for, with any tour operator. If there are more than 30 days until departure, you can take it out at any time. Later, only at the same time as paying for the holiday. Details are on the package holiday cancellation insurance page, you can work out the price in the calculator, and the claims process is on the how to make a claim page.

How this overview is put together

We took the scales from the current terms that the tour operators publish on their websites. For each one, the document, the article and the effective date are given. We only include tour operators whose terms are publicly available and unambiguous. We update the overview every January and will add more tour operators at the next update. If a tour operator changes its terms during the year, the wording in effect on the day you concluded your contract applies. We write about cancellation fees for accommodation, tickets and courses in general on the cancellation fees page.
