Day camps
Day camp cancellation insurance
Before you insure a day camp, read the organiser’s terms: some refund the full price for an illness confirmed by a doctor, others keep everything just before the start. The insurance pays off where nothing or only part is refunded. It reimburses the cancellation fee after deducting the 10% excess and costs 9% of the price, at least CZK 26.
- 9% of the price, minimum CZK 26
- If you cancel, cancellation fees back after deducting the 10% excess
- Standalone, no travel insurance needed

What you can insure
What the insurance is good for
- Summer day camps run by sports clubs, schools, children’s leisure centres and private organisers
- Several sessions at once, such as the whole summer holidays
- Siblings in one policy (up to 10 people)
- Day camps during the spring, autumn and Easter holidays
- A camp paid directly to the organiser — an application form and proof of payment are enough

Typical situations
When cancellation insurance comes in handy
A fever on Sunday evening
Camp starts on Monday morning and your child has a fever. An organiser that keeps the full price in the last few days before the start won’t refund anything.
A bike accident a week before
A cast on the arm, and your child can’t take part in the sports programme or the trips. The week of camp is lost.
Starting on Wednesday
Your child is recovering from an illness and joins the camp later. For the missed days the organiser doesn’t refund, we reimburse a proportionate share.
The whole summer booked in advance
You’ve paid for three sessions. If your child can’t go to one of them, the insurance covers the one you lose.
| When you cancel | Cancellation fee |
|---|---|
| more than 30 days before the start | no fee |
| 29–15 days before the start | 25% of the price |
| 14–7 days before the start | 50% of the price |
| 6–3 days before the start | 75% of the price |
| 2 days or less, or no-show | 100% of the price |
For documented serious health reasons, this organiser may reduce the fee after assessing the case. For comparison: Šmidingerova knihovna Strakonice (the Strakonice town library) refunds the full amount if you cancel for health reasons with a doctor’s note.

Keep in mind
What to watch out for
Check the organiser’s terms first
If the organiser refunds the full price for an illness with a doctor’s note, you don’t need the insurance. It makes sense to insure a camp where the money isn’t refunded, or only partly.
The parent is the policyholder
The insurance is taken out by an adult parent or legal guardian, and you enter the child as the insured person. It’s always taken out for that specific application and payment.
Illnesses known in advance
Problems your child already had when the insurance was taken out aren’t covered (except a stabilised chronic illness). Insure the camp as soon as you pay for it.
Cheap sessions
We insure prices from CZK 300 online. Add cheaper sessions or siblings together into one policy.
Questions
Insurance questions: day camps
It depends on the organiser. Under its rules for 2026, Šmidingerova knihovna Strakonice refunds the full amount if you cancel for health reasons and provide a doctor’s note. The Czech Academy of Sciences children’s groups day camp has a fixed scale and keeps the full price 2 days or less before the start; for serious health reasons, it may reduce it after assessing the case. You’ll find the terms in the application form or on the organiser’s website.
Yes. You can insure up to 10 people in one order, the premium is calculated from the total price, and the CZK 26 minimum applies to the whole policy. If your child misses one session because of illness but goes to the next one, we reimburse the cancellation fee for the missed one.
What the insurance costs →The insurance also covers a serious illness, injury or death of a family member that means your child can’t start the camp. A doctor confirms the diagnosis and length of treatment, or you provide the death certificate.
The insurance policy number, the application form or proof of payment, the organiser’s confirmation of how much it refunded and how much it kept, and a medical report with the diagnosis and length of treatment. Cancel the camp as soon as you know your child won’t go — the fee is usually higher later.
How to report a claim →We reimburse the cancellation fees — the deposit paid in advance or the price the seller didn’t refund under its terms — after deducting the 10% excess. If you get nothing back for a CZK 2,000 ticket, you’ll receive CZK 1,800. If you cancel because the insured person is hospitalised or dies, no excess applies. Cancellation fees don’t include the premium, airport taxes or fees that can be recovered.
If there are more than 30 days until the trip starts, you can take out the insurance at any time. If you buy the trip 30 days or less before it starts, the insurance must be taken out at the same time as you pay for the trip. In all cases, it only covers events that occur after it is taken out.
Rules and examples with dates →Among other things: a change of plans (you don’t want to go, you’re afraid, you don’t get time off work), health problems that existed before the insurance was taken out (except a stabilised chronic illness), events under the influence of alcohol or drugs, injuries during races and competitions, or a trip being cancelled by the carrier or organiser — in that case they refund you.
